Lax Lake Resort

I've stayed 3 years in a row for peak foliage season. The lake is gorgeous in the early mornings with dense heavy fog in October. Melody is the best Host. Highly recommend this place for a peaceful getaway during any season.

One of the best campsites I have ever stayed at! The staff were extremely accommodating and kind, especially for my last minute booking. The spot was quiet and absolutely beautiful! It was also inexpensive for such a pretty campsite, right on a lake, had ice cream, and was relatively near several gorgeous areas around Lake Superior to explore. I will definitely come back if I need a camping spot in this area again. Could not be happier with how my weekend turned out here!

Camping at Lax Lake is always a relaxing and pleasurable experience. The owners are amazing and the site beautiful. Whether one is wanting to rest and get back in tune with nature, boat, canoe, fish or be halfway between everything the North Shore has to offer, Lax Lake Resort is a great destination. The pet free resort has camping, cabins and all the facilities for a comfortable stay! We've stayed multiple times and will be back again.

All we can say is WOW! Melodie is such a fantastic, knowledgeable, and kind host! We stayed in one of the original 1930’s lake side cabins. The cabin was quaint, clean, and functional. The resort has paddle boats and a canoe for use which is lovely. The grounds are private yet have close access to the many attractions of the North Shore. We absolutely loved our time here!

A great hideaway off the beaten path yet close enough to restaurants, bars groceries, fuel etc. Melodie is a fantastic host and works her backside off making sure you have an enjoyable stay. I found the rooms, showers and grounds to be very clean and relaxing. Beautiful views of the lake, tranquil setting. Waking up to the sound of loons on the lake is a great way to start the day. I highly recommend LAX Lake Resort. I suggest you call and speak to Melodie when booking your stay, she will make recommendations on how to make the most of your stay whether a lodge room or cabin.

We stumbled upon Lax Lake Camping and Lodging by accident, and I am so glad we did. My husband and I were doing a self-guided Lake Superior camping tour, and had decided not to stay at a place we had booked previously. As such, we had nowhere to stay, and were calling all the local campgrounds on our route- and all of them were full. We weren’t sure what we would do. I googled “camping near me”, and Lax popped up. I called, and the gentleman said that they had availability. We took it! When we arrived, we weren’t sure what to expect. He took us on a tour, and let us choose our own campsite- which we chose right on the water! It was beautiful! We had a very relaxing stay, and loved every moment spent there. The owner was up early the next morning, raking the sand beach, checking garbages, etc. It is a well taken care of property. The bathrooms were immaculately clean! They are not modern, but they are extremely clean. There are pontoons, kayaks and canoes for rent for very fair prices. The woman there is so super friendly and happy to chat anytime! They also have a little gift shop, as well as ice, firewood, and ice cream for sale. If you are looking for a fancy place, this isn’t it, but if you are looking to camp at a beautiful spot, with lovely owners who care- this is it!

Great place for families,couples and sportsmen alike. Easy access to the water. Cabins to rent along with traditional camping spots for your own camper or tent. Very beautiful lake. Great spot to see loons. Especially in front of the lodge! This is a great place to bring children to catch fish. Because the shoreline out front is full of panfish. My kids caught sunnies until their arms were too tired to catch anymore. You may even hook a pike or walleye. I caught a 38" pike one evening during SB Fishing league right in front of the swimming raft .

We loved the peaceful environment, wildlife, cozy feel, and ice cream! Owners were extremely accommodating to our last minute switch to a larger camper. The bathrooms were very clean. Easy drive to many state parks/other tourist attractions.
